Foam injection

Offshore Foam injection for the longevity of well production

When a well is not producing adequately anymore, one can inject foam into the gas column so that the water which holds the gas down rises with the foam to the surface. This is not a new technique, but wasn’t used offshore before. After extensive tests we found the right sustainable soap and defoamer combination, which separates the gas from the soapy water. The latter is reinjected in the reservoir, so nothing is discharged. By using this innovative technique we expect to produce an extra 300 million m3 of gas in the Netherlands, the equivalent of a one year gas supply for almost 200,000 Dutch households.
