Bonaparte (AU)

The Bonaparte LNG Project, a joint venture between ENGIE E&P (60%, operator) and Santos (40%), aims to produce natural gas from the Petrel, Tern and Frigate fields, located in the Bonaparte Basin in the Timor Sea, one of the main gas-producing regions in Australia.

The Bonaparte LNG Project is located in the Bonaparte Basin in the Timor Sea, one of the main gas-producing regions in Australia.

Petrel, Tern and Frigate fields are consisting of significant gas accumulations, with certified 2C resources of respectively 2300 bcf, 350 bcf, and 40 bcf.

The project entered into the pre-FEED phase of development in 2011 which included the drilling of an appraisal well. After an extensive process, ENGIE E&P and Santos confirmed in June 2014 that floating liquefied natural gas technology is a credible option but will review alternative development concepts, including a pipeline connection to Darwin, to meet commercial requirements.
